O'Hare is a primary hub for both international travel and domestic connections, so applicants from across northern Illinois, northwest Indiana, and southern Wisconsin often route through it. Many people choose this center simply because it is the airport they already fly out of.

Because it pulls from such a large area, the calendar at O'Hare tends to fill quickly. That same volume is part of why earlier openings appear: in a busy center, travelers cancel and reschedule constantly, and each change can free up a slot for a short window.

If you have an international trip on the books, finishing your interview before you leave is usually the practical goal. An earlier date at O'Hare can be the difference between completing the process now and waiting until after your trip.

There is also Enrollment on Arrival, where eligible travelers complete the interview when returning to the United States through a participating port. If you fly internationally through O'Hare, this can be a way to finish without a separate appointment, though availability and eligibility rules are set by CBP.
